- October 2012: In
cooperation with the Centre for Evidence Based Intervention (CEBI),
CAIRO will host Prof. Charlotte Watts of the School of Hygiene and
Tropical Medicine, who will talk on 'Intimate Partner Violence and HIV'
and DPhil Candidate Lena Saleh, University of Oxford whose talk will
focus on 'Sexual risk in African American men who have sex with men'.
- January 2012: The
Brown International Advance Research Institute will host its annual
conference on June 9-23 2012. Thanks to generous support from Santander
Universities, BIARI will cover the costs of tuition, food and
accommodation (in university housing) during BIARI, and also the costs
of air travel and ground transportation to Providence. To apply, please

commemoration of World AIDS Day, St Cross College will be hosting a Colloquium
focusing on HIV/AIDS. Professor Harold Jaffe will present on "The
global HIV/AIDS epidemic" and Jacqueline Papo will present on
"Exploring the condom gap." The event will be held at St Cross College
(St Cross Room), 5.30-6.30, Tuesday 1st December.

AIDS Day 2009, CAIRO, the
Department of Social Policy and Social Work, the Division of Public
Health and Primary Care and Wolfson College will be facilitating an
interdisciplinary workshop for graduate students and researchers
interested in HIV and AIDS at Oxford University. The
Oxford University HIV/AIDS Student Workshop will be held on
December 2, 2009 at Wolfson College.

Cluver, Dr. Don Operario, and DPhil student Caroline Kuo will be
presenting their paper entitled Caring for AIDS-Orphaned Children: Varying Health
Vulnerabilities Amoungst Carers at the 2009 AIDS Impact
Conference in Botswana.

African National Department of Social Development, will be presenting a
special workshop on Home-Based Care at the AIDS Impact Conference in
Botswana.
-16/09/09: The new
South African National Action
Plan for Orphans and Children Made Vulnerable by AIDS (NAP) has been
finalised by the National Action Committee for Children Affected by
AIDS. The Young Carers Team have been involved in the writing of the
NAP, and we are delighted that this includes a section on care and
support of Young Carers.
-16/09/09: Caroline
Kuo will also be presenting
the paper she co-wrote with Dr. Cluver and Dr. Operario, ""Caring for
AIDS-orphaned children: Health outcomes of carers of AIDS-orphaned and
other vulnerable children in South Africa" at the American Public
Health Association Conference at Pennsylvania, USA on November 7-11,
2009 .
